Game director Nick Popovich tells us that Slime Rancher 2 will first launch into Game Preview/Early Access, and so will not feature achievements at launch, to avoid having the achievements tied only to the Early Access portion. We know that Slime Rancher 2 is set to launch this fall, but game director Nick Popovich has also been able to confirm that it will launch first into Game Preview/Early Access.Slime Rancher 2 will launch into Game Preview/Early Access this fall”Slime Rancher 2 will be releasing into Early Access/Game Preview and will not feature achievements at launch,” Popovich says. “This is so that all our achievements are not tied to the portion of the game we will deliver with the initial launch, but instead be added later when they can pertain to the complete experience we will ultimately develop.”While this means the game won’t initially launch with achievements, Popovich explains how this is a practical decision — if the game launched with achievements, those achievements could only be tied to the portion of the game that initially launches this fall. This way, the achievements can be added later and and relate to the entire game instead of just one portion. We can start playing Slime Rancher 2 when it launches into Game Preview/Early Access this fall — if you’re looking for more Slime Rancher content to tide us over while we wait, check out our Slime Rancher 2 interview where Popovich was kind enough to answer our many slime ranching-related questions.
