Development of the game started out as an expansion to Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, before Ubisoft decided to make it a standalone title outside of that series’ universe.Originally announced at E3 2017 during Ubisoft’s press conference, Skull & Bone was delayed countless times that would ultimately mean it wouldn’t finally see the light of day until nearly seven years after its reveal. Even when it did eventually turn up, Skull & Bones attracted a lot of controversy for its $70 price tag, with Ubisoft boss Yves Guillemot justifying the cost by describing it as a “quadruple-A game.” Skull & Bones launched for PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S in February 2024, and you can have a gander at our full review here.
