Ahead of its launch, Crytek has revealed a host of Hunt: Showdown 1896 details, which sees the Xbox FPS game run at 4K/60fps natively on Xbox Series X, take us to the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, and more. There is a silver lining, however, as Hunt: Showdown 1896 will be a free upgrade for all owners of the game, which means you’ll be able to pick up where you left off if you decide to move up to an Xbox Series X or S in the future.As the name suggests, Hunt: Showdown 1896 will move the game’s setting forward by a year, with its new map, Mammoth Gulch, taking us to Colorado and the Rockies. The map is set between two mountain areas and filled with mine shafts for those brave enough to explore them, and will feature 16 compounds, as well as waterfalls, a mining town, and a waterfall. While the current bayou maps won’t be available at launch, Crytek says “they will be returning post-launch after receiving a revamp of their own.”Alongside the new map, the entire game has been revamped in Crytek’s new CryEngine 5.11, offering up a host of improvements by way of overhauled visuals, richer audio, better performance, and more. With support for Xbox One being dropped, Hunt: Showdown 1896 is optimized for current-gen consoles. Crytek says that following the free upgrade’s rollout, the game will support native 4K and 60fps frame rates on Xbox Series X and 2K/60fps on Xbox Series S.
