Short Creepy Stories Ominous Steamboat Walkthrough
Let’s go through day by day.
First Day
- First, you need to speak to the Captain. He’ll tell you to get to work and complete your tasks. First, scrub the deck. Second, make some dinner.
- You find the mop in the cupboard on the door against the main cabin, in the area below where the Captain is standing.
- While you’re in the mop room, you can read the ship’s log, which talks about some strange sounds in the ship’s hold. Probably nothing, right?
- Once you have the mop, equip it by selecting it.
- Find puddles around the deck and interact with them repeatedly to mop them up.
- Return the mop to the cupboard when you’re done.
- To make dinner, head to the room opposite the kitchen area and interact with the crate of potatoes by holding the interact button to peel a potato.
- Peel ten potatoes this way, and then interact with the pot in the kitchen to put the potatoes on to boil.
- Once you’re done with the tasks, go talk to the Captain again. He’ll ask you to stove coal in the furnace room. Head down the steps and it’s the first door on your left.
- Pick up the coal shovel, equip it, and interact with the coal pile to shovel coal into the furnace. The furnace part can be a bit tricky to hit the right spot, but you should get there eventually.
- Feed the furnace four times, then talk to the Captain, he’ll tell you you’re done for the day. Head back to your bunk and sleep.
Second Day
- The next day, head up and speak to the Captain again. He’ll ask you to repeat the first two tasks from yesterday, you know the drill.
- After that, he asks you to take the wheel while he takes care of something. Just interact with the wheel and hold it until it’s complete, and he’ll turn up again.
- He asks you to fuel the furnace again. Repeat that task.
- Once you’re done, the Captain is finished with you, and you can go to bed again.
Third Day
- The game skips forward two days to save you more potato peeling.
- Speak to the Captain again, and he’ll tell you to get mopping once more. Checking in the log shows he’s maybe a bit more suspicious of the noises.
- Once the mopping is done, your objective changes to ‘Cook The Food’, but there’s nothing in the pantry to cook with. Speak to the Captain and he’ll ask you to go below deck to get some more potatoes. Lovely.
- Head to the trapdoor on the bow and interact with it to head below deck.
- Under the deck is extremely dark, even while using your lighter. Hug the left wall and keep going until you find the potato sack. Pick that up and then retrace your steps back to the ladder.
- Talk to the Captain again. He’ll say something ominous and tell you to cook dinner again. You know the drill by now. Then he’ll send you to bed.
Fourth Day
- Skip forward another week. Today, your job is to get some coal from below deck. Once again, hug the wall/obstacles and look for a sack marked with a ‘C’. Don’t worry about the noises… it’s probably fine.
- Head up with the sack, stoke the furnace, and speak to the Captain again to end your day.
- You’ll be greeted by an ominous message that you wake up the night of the same day, oh dear. Open the door to find the Captain standing there. Speak to him and he’ll ask you to take the wheel for a little while. Go and do that.
- Things might get a bit weird… keep steering until it’s done and the Captain comes back and sends you back to bed.
Fifth Day
- Cut to four days later. The Captain is sounding.. strange. But he sends you to do your usual cleaning task. No cooking though, it looks like there’s not enough food. The Captain sends you to bed, but talks to you in your doorway, saying he’s figured out a solution to the food problem. That’s worrying. Got to sleep anyway.
- The next day, you get up to find no one at the wheel. Head below deck and to the back just in time to see a not-very-encouraging sight.
- Head up, and go to bed. At least there was no deck-scrubbing.
Final Day
- Cut to a morning three days after the Captain uh.. disappeared. That’s not good.
- Head down below deck and to the back to find something very nasty lurking there. It will start chasing you. Head for the ladder quickly.
- You need to get the keys to unlock the lifeboat winch. This is tricky as the thing will chase you once it gets above deck. You need to lead the monster away from the hatch to get below the deck and grab the keys. The monster won’t follow you below deck.
- Once you have the keys unlock the winch and interact with it to start lowering the lifeboat. If the creature gets close you’ll need to get away and lead it in another direction. This is easier with more people.
- Once the lifeboat is winched down, interact with it to hop in and escape. Congratulations, you made it!
