SEGA Admits Sonic 2022 Reveal ‘Was A Bit Premature’

The announcement of Sonic 2022, the next major entry in the Blue Blue’s illustrious career, was ‘a bit premature,’ SEGA has admitted.Sonic the Hedgehog’s 2022 outing hasn’t got an official title yet, and we don’t know much about it beyond that brief teaser trailer. However, SEGA said that it was necessary to reveal the game as it formed part of Sonic’s 30th anniversary celebrations this year.Speaking with 4Gamer, Takashi Iizuka, head of Sonic Team, acknowledged it may seem a bit early to reveal the new Sonic game, also hinted about the mysterious shape that the Blue Blur leaves behind him in the trailer.We haven’t announced a brand new action game for the Sonic series since Sonic Forces, and that caused fans to worry. While it was a bit premature, I wanted to at least take the occasion of the 30th anniversary to announce that a brand new title was in development.It is something symbolic that appears in the game, but the meaning is still a secret.
