Check out what it’s like inside one of the most notorious MMA gyms in the world, Sanford MMA.
Sanford MMA is one of the most accomplished MMA teams and gyms in the world; with world-championship level talents such as Michael Chandler and Gilbert Burns gracing the grounds with their presence. Located in Deerfield Beach, FL, it shares a unique gym vs. gym rivalry with the American Top Team, which is located roughly eight miles west of the Sanford complex.
FanSided’s Amy Kaplan got the chance to take an exclusive walkthrough of Sanford MMA’s state-of-the-art facility; which includes an MMA team of roughly 40 fighters who fight in promotions such as the UFC, Bellator, and ONE Championship.
The most unique part about Sanford is that it’s not just home to MMA fighters, but also athletes in the NFL, MLB, and NHL as well. This makes for a very diverse group of athletes looking to improve on a daily basis. The MMA team has its own section of the gym, located right next to a massive gift shop and nutrition bar.
The complex also consists of a gigantic fitness center and workout space, which includes modern weight machines and other equipment.
Sanford MMA is not strictly an MMA gym, but also a place where other professional athletes come to train
After the infamous Blackzilians MMA gym closed its doors in 2018, kickboxing expert Henri Hooft along with Greg Jones founded Sanford MMA and brought over all of the athletes from Blackzilians to the new complex.
Sanford MMA is currently the temporary home to numerous PFL fighters getting ready for the upcoming postseason; including Rory MacDonald, who faces Ray Cooper III on Aug. 13 in the PFL welterweight semifinals.
