Season Six of Sea of Thieves will add Sea Forts and new Pirate Legend voyages, as confirmed by the dev team in a new preview video. Executive producer Joe Neate reminds us that seasons run roughly every three months, bringing with them new mechanics, progression, rewards, and more. Season Six starts in March and introduces Sea Forts as a new “mini-raid” experience. Game designer Becky Hewitt expands on this, adding that there will be six Sea Forts throughout the Sea of Thieves, and that you’ll be fighting against phantoms and Sea Fort captains to be rewarded with treasure.According to senior designer Chris Davies, Sea Forts provide a “more personal experience.” Season Six will also bring with it new replayable Pirate Legend voyages that each offer something “fresh and exciting” — whether that’s “using new maps to uncover treasures, diving into the depths to explore shipwrecked graveyards, or exploring onto haunted islands.” The video ends with the Sea of Thieves 2022 roadmap, which tells us that Season Seven will arrive in June, Season Eight in September, and Season Nine in December. Season Six kicks off this month (Sea of Thieves will also discontinue numerous Arena achievements in March) — we’ll be sure to update you when we hear of a release date.
