Scathe developer Damage State has released a devlog that discusses the game’s implementation of bullet hell mechanics, co-op gameplay, and how dodging the enemies’ firepower will ramp up Scathe’s intensity. We had our eye on Scathe’s Doom-style gameplay from the moment we saw it last month. With its bullet hell gameplay, co-op support, and demonic enemies, Scathe is looking like a ridiculously good time. The game is developed by a three-person team at Damage State and puts you in the shoes of an Enforcer of the legions of Hell. You’ve got to prove yourself worthy of the Divine Creator’s good graces by obliterating demonic evil in hellish mazes. With full cross-play support, you can take on the big baddies with up to three friends in drop-in/drop-out online multiplayer. The catch, though, is that you all share the same pool of lives, so you’ll probably want to make sure you really like your pals before inviting them in. While you can access a large roster of weaponry, with each offering secondary fire modes, your adversaries will also be armed with devilishly chaotic armaments. You’ll need to dodge, dip, duck, dive, and dodge your way through the relentless gunfire to collect three Hellstones and make your way to the centre of the maze. It’s a simple premise that looks anything but simple.Check out the devlog above to see a little of Scathe’s gameplay as Damage State’s Chris Dawson discusses the game’s bullet hell-style gameplay. Scathe launches later this year on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PS5, PS4, and PC.Will you be looking to annihilate the forces of hell and claim your ascension? Let us know down in the comments!
