There’s never been a better time to grab yourself a Steam Deck OLED, as new stock of refurbished units is now on sale on the Steam website. Valve’s certified refurbishment program gives you a fully tested, fully working gaming handheld with a one year warranty at a brilliantly discounted price, saving you 20% on a brand new model.
The Steam Deck OLED is arguably one of the best handheld gaming PCs out there, offering a better display, battery life, and design improvements over the original Steam Deck LCD. Grabbing a refurbished model is the best way to secure the top-spec Valve handheld, as long as you can grab one in time, as these are likely to sell out quickly.
Valve began selling refurbished Steam Deck OLEDs only a few weeks ago, but that stock quickly sold out. This new stock was first spotted by Wario64 on X (formerly Twitter) in a post shared on that platform, and given the popularity of the devices, we’d expect these newly released refurbs to sell quickly, too.
Given the quality of Valve’s refurbishment program, that’s no surprise, either. According to Valve’s own guidelines, refurbished models are “thoroughly tested to the same high standards” as brand-new Steam Decks, “ensuring that refurbished units meet or even exceed the performance standard” of those new models. Refurbs also get a brand-new power pack and carry case included for free.
The price is the biggest factor here, though. A brand new 512GB Steam Deck OLED will cost you $549, while the refurb only costs you $439. For the 1TB model, buying brand new will cost you $649, while the refurbished model is only $519. If you are on a budget, choosing the refurbished model will give you the money for double the storage space compared to a new model, with only what Valve describes as potential “minor cosmetic blemishes” as the trade off.
