The final stress test for sandbox MMORPG Mortal Online 2 has landed. Ahead of the game’s full launch out of Steam Early Access later this year, developer Star Vault is inviting one and all to dive into the latest build of the game, which has a whole lot of new content to sink your fantasy-loving fangs into. There are new dungeons to plunder, skills to learn, creatures to chase, and much more. Oh, and some very big, very angry trolls to battle. Gulp.
The final stress test for Mortal Online 2 is live right now, so you can dive in right away. All you have to do is head to the game’s Steam page, scroll down to that big green ‘request access’ button under the stress test section, and give that a big ol’ boop. You should then get an email from Steam letting you know you’re in. Easy peasy.
The test will run until September 12, so you haven’t got long, especially with so much to do. A lot has changed since the last test five months ago: besides many squashed bugs and a layer of polish, there’s a host of new content.
There are new dungeons to plunder across the fantasy world of Nave, and plenty more creatures to track and take down. During this playtest, we’ll see several rare and particularly challenging beasts appear across the world, and players will need to band together to best them if you don’t want to become their lunch.
Competitive types can try the game’s PvP combat systems, which have seen updates and balance passes to increase the speed and fluidity of battling both other players and the AI-controlled monsters you’ll find in the world. You’ll also find a new magic school in which to hone your spellcrafting, and the studio says that there’s a much friendlier and more forgiving new-player experience now.
Speaking of monsters, Star Vault has introduced the first of many tier-two AI encounters to come for the playtest. That means you’ll be facing some big, bad beasts like trolls, who will sport some ‘unique’ behaviours. Translation: they’re going to grab you and smash you into the ground if you don’t stay on your toes.
Mortal Online 2 is due to get its full release on October 26, but if you can’t wait until then, this is an ideal time to give it an early go. The game is a massive, open-world sandbox MMORPG that keeps the stakes high. With a full PvP combat system from the get-go, there’s nowhere to hide – you’ll be protecting your hand-crafted gear and your life from others that might seek to take them from you. Or perhaps you’ll be doing the taking.
Fighting is an action-based, first-person affair, in which your character skills really matter – there are more than 600 to pick from in an open system with no character levels. Without tab-targeting or auto-attacks to rely on, you’ll need to plan your build wisely, as the player who does so will more often than not triumph over a less-skilled opponent, even one with better weapons or gear on their side. Having said that, the game boasts a complex crafting system with millions of possible combinations of parts so you can ensure you’ve always got the best gear on-hand when you need it.
If you’re keen to jump into the latest, and final, Mortal Online playtest ahead of its arrival this autumn, head to Steam and hit that ‘request access’ button at that link.
