Samsung Galaxy Watch4 and Classic specs detailed unofficially days before announcement

Samsung will unveil its next generation smartwatches on August 11, the biggest change will be the switch from Tizen to One UI-skinned Wear OS. There will be a shake-up in the naming convention too, with Galaxy Watch4 Classic getting the hardware bezel and the vanilla Galaxy Watch4 being the sportier option.

These watches have leaked plenty of times, but WinFuture put all the available info in one place. The Classic models will be larger, 42/46 mm, than the vanilla models, 40/44 mm. They will have the same screen sizes, however, 1.19” on the small models and 1.36” on the large ones. The difference in body size comes from the rotating bezel.







Samsung Galaxy Watch4 Classic, 46mm, Black, Stainless Steel

The two series will also differ in the materials used too. The more premium Galaxy Watch4 Classic will have a stainless steel body, the vanilla watches will be made out of aluminum. Even so, both watches will come with an IP68 dust and water resistance rating (up to 5 ATM water resistance) and will have survived MIL-STD-810G testing. Both will have Gorilla Glass DX to protect their displays.

Speaking of, the displays will be Super AMOLED panels with 450 x 450 px resolution (even on the small watches). This is an upgrade over the Watch3, which has a 360 x 360 px display. The batteries remain roughly the same, 247 mAh for the small watches and 361 mAh for the larger ones. Battery life is expected to be up to 7 days.







Samsung Galaxy Watch4, 40mm, Silver, Aluminum

The watches will run Google’s Wear OS with One UI Watch 3.5 on top. The Exynos W920 chipset was developed specifically for wearable applications and will be paired with 1.5 GB of RAM and 16 GB of storage (up from 1 GB/8 GB). There will be optional 4G connectivity, plus dual band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC and several GNSS standards (GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, Beidou).

In terms of health monitoring, the watches will have heart rate and SpO2 (blood oxygen) sensors, as well as ECG (electrocardiogram). The watches will be able to analyze the wearer’s body composition in about 15 seconds.
