Saber Interactive has been a subsidiary of Embracer Group since it was acquired in 2020, back when Embracer’s constant spree of acquisitions seemed like it would have no end.Things have drastically changed since then, and thanks to Embracer’s chief executive officer Lars Wingefors and the rest of the c-suite’s poor management the company is in a state of turmoil that has caused irreparable damage to the games industry. It’s also resulted in the reported sale of Saber Interactive, which has always been one of Embracer’s bigger subsidiaries, for $500 million, and Saber will be taking the Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic Remake project with them. This comes from Bloomberg, who reports that Saber isn’t being sold off to another large company, but will instead become a private company.Saber Interactive leaving Embracer Group is perhaps one of the first ‘good’ stories to come out of Embracer in almost two years. It hopefully means that the highly-anticipated KOTOR Remake will still come to fruition, and that Saber can avoid the consequences of blunders made by Wingefors and co.This remake has already had what’s felt like a cursed story. First it was given to Aspyr, who worked on it for months until it was taken from them and the project moved to Saber.Since that shift we’ve heard very little other than that it’s not entirely dead, and at least for now it’s good that it still seems to be in development.Once Saber is officially through with Embracer, hopefully we can get our first proper update as to what’s happening with the game.Source – [Bloomberg]
