Rotor X Aircraft Manufacturing Company of Chandler Arizona has completed hundreds of unmanned test flights of the new fully electric DRAGON eVTOL Personal Air Vehicle (PAV) from Rotor X. This flight test concludes the flights of the pre-production version, shown at the Oshkosh AirVenture 2023 event in July, which leads the way for the piloted flight tests planned for early September of 2023. Website at:www.DragonXAircraft.comThis electric ultralight aircraft will be a quick-build kit that doesn’t require a pilot’s license in the U.S. because it meets the FAA Part 103 Ultralight Aircraft requirements. Rotor X plans to have the DRAGON eVTOL PAV in production by March 2024 and is priced at under $90K. Orders are currently being taken for 2024 production slots. The video was taken on August 16, 2023 during the final unmanned flight test of a DRAGON eVTOL PAV pre-production prototype prior to manned flight testing. The ballistic chute and safety cage are not shown and will be integrated into production vehicles.Rotor X (www.RotorXAircraft.com) is the leader in the production of affordable 2-seat helicopter kits, and their decades of aircraft manufacturing experience of the Rotor X Aircraft A600 Turbo Helicopter are being leveraged in the design and production of the DRAGON eVTOL PAV Ultralight Aircraft. The DRAGON eVTOL PAV has a 250 lb (113 kg) pilot capacity, can fly for up to 20 minutes, and recharge in less than 2 hours. Flies up to 63 mph. DRAGON quickly folds and fits in the bed of a pickup truck. Safety features include energy-absorbing helicopter landing gear, ballistic parachute, safety cage, redundant independent motors (with enough power to stay in hover with up to 2 motors not in operation). The power system has separate independent battery packs controlled by redundant flight controllers. Has automatic takeoff and landing, hands-off return to hover and position hold. The DRAGON eVTOL PAV can hover and continue to a safe landing after a battery, electrical, or motor failure.Rotor X is accepting deposits for the DRAGON eVTOL PAV at Dragon Personal Air Vehicle -Dragon (rotorxdragon.com).Additionally, Advanced Tactics Inc. of Torrance California (www.advancedtacticsinc.com) pioneered the largest heavy-lift multi-rotor technology since 2007 and has been assisting Rotor X with funding and personnel to make fly-by-wire multi-rotor ultralight aircraft a reality. For more information on the DRAGON eVTOL PAV contact sales at: [email protected]or call 310-701-3659.
