Rockstar working on GTA remaster trilogy

Rockstar Games is reportedly working on a GTA remaster trilogy due to release this fall, including Grand Theft Auto III, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. This news comes from Kotaku, which has reported that sources close to the project have said that Rockstar is currently working on remasters of Grand Theft Auto III, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. It’s potentially set to be released as a bundle in late October or early November on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and other platforms, including Switch and mobile. According to the leak, these titles are all being developed using Unreal Engine, and a source that has seen a snippet of gameplay says it looks like a “heavily-modded version of a classic GTA title,” using a mixture of “new and old graphics.”This new information certainly fits in with Take-Two’s plans to release ten mobile games and six “new iterations of previously released titles,” by 2024, which it stated in its 2020 earnings call. Kotaku’s sources have said that one of Rockstar Games’ newest studios, Rockstar Dundee, is working on the project along with assisting with the next-gen port of GTA V. It’s not all on Rockstar Dundee, though — apparently, the reason for Red Dead Online’s slow output of updates is because other studios within the company are assisting with the remaster project. We could, however, see a remastered version of the first Red Dead Redemption if all goes well with this first wave of renewed classics. If the claims by Kotaku’s sources turn out to be correct, we could be hearing about this trilogy pretty soon in preparation for its release, and you can be sure that we’ll let you know if and when we do!
