You’ll once again be able to unlock MultiVersus achievements on May 28 when the game re-launches in full for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and other platforms. The Xbox fighting game returns with some freebies for those who played during the open beta, but new MultiVersus battle pass details reveal a host of changes that will also be included.MultiVersus battle pass and currencies are changing a bitOkay, let’s start with the fun stuff: freebies! Player First Games has announced that all players who complete the new tutorial will unlock a new seven-day reward calendar, which features the new Adventure Time character, Banana Guard, for free. On top of that, if you’re able to complete all seven days, you’ll also receive the Lady Banana Guard variant as a bonus. As for returning open beta players, your time during the game’s testing phase will be rewarded in the form of a free premium battle pass for the game’s first official season if you log in before June 11. A recent trailer revealed that Friday the 13th’s Jason Voorhees and The Matrix’s Agent Smith are new characters coming to the game during this season — and Voorhees is the first unlock in the premium battle pass. Returning players will also be given a commemorative special edition Snow Suit Finn variant, a special edition Rising Star ringout, and a special edition Banana Guard announcer pack. Now onto the changes. During MultiVersus’ open beta, players who purchased the Founder’s Pack were able to use character tokens to unlock new characters. The tokens won’t be featured when the game re-launches, but Player First has said any tokens you have left over will still be usable, you’ll just not be able to get any more. Similarly, while any battle pass tokens you have left over from the open beta will also be usable in the full launch to unlock a premium battle pass tier, you’ll not be able to acquire them anymore.Player First has also said that Gold won’t be making a return, and instead, any Gold you earned during the open beta will be converted into “commemorative cosmetics that correlate to a player’s Gold earned during open beta.” The items won’t be earnable and will be unique for open beta players. Gleamium will return and continue to be purchasable with real-world money, or unlocked via the premium battle passes — which will each contain enough Gleamium to pay for the next season’s battle pass — and can be spent on cosmetics via the in-game store. With many of the open beta currencies disappearing, the new MultiVersus currencies will now be: Perk, Fighter, Prestige, and Gleamium. The Perk currency will be used to unlock character perks, many of which have been reworked to spice up gameplay. These tokens will be unlockable naturally through gameplay, although open beta players will start the game with some in the bank as all character perks have been reset. Much like perks, Fighter tokens will be used to unlock fighters, replacing the character tokens from before, and will also be earnable via playing the game. The final new currency is Prestige, which is earned by unlocking cosmetics when playing. Each cosmetic you unlock will reward you with a specific amount of Prestige, which can then be used to unlock rare prestige cosmetics. There’s a lot changing when MultiVersus re-launches on Xbox next week — hopefully earning it a spot on our list of the best free Xbox games.
