Whether or not you’ve finished up with the Age of Mythology: Retold achievements, you now have more to grapple with: the Arena of the Gods achievements have now been revealed as part of Age of Mythology’s new free update, out now. The original Age of Mythology was such an amazing game, and with more updates like this, we’ll hopefully see Retold move onto the list of the best Game Pass games.The free Arena of the Gods update adds a mode with 35 skirmish missions that you can play solo or together with your friends. Blessings and World Twists play a big part. Blessings are abilities which can affect combat or help in other ways, such as recharging God Powers more quickly. World Twists, meanwhile, are just as they sound; rapidly-changing twists which the Age of Empires team says “constantly redefine the battlefield.” For instance, Gaia’s Remnants of Atlantis means that “Clusters of units are spawned across the map for the player(s) to collect once they accomplish certain objectives,” while Freyja’s World Twist makes cavalry more expensive to train with the twist that they’ll become infantry after dying. The update comes alongside a range of fixes, which you can read in full in the extensive patch notes, but one of the main points is the addition of those new achievements. While you can play the Arena of the Gods missions solo, you’ll need to win one mission in co-op to complete the new list, as well as complete “Gateways” under a number of conditions, and bestow some Blessings on your Legend.
