Shinji Mikami, the director of Resident Evil 4 and the brains behind the upcoming Ghostwire: Tokyo, has said that he hopes a remake of the seminal 2005 action-horror title will improve on original game’s story.Speaking with VG247, Mikami-san seemed to support the idea of a Resident Evil 4 remake, saying “fans will most likely want it, and so that’s a good thing. It would be great if Capcom could do a great job and make the story better, and put out a good product.”He then added that he only had about three weeks to write the story in the original Resident Evil 4 due to deadlines.Capcom hasn’t announced a Resident Evil 4 remake yet, but it’s heavily rumored to be in the pipeline with a launch supposedly set for 2023. I still question the need for a remake of that particular game when Resident Evil CODE: Veronica would benefit from a complete overhaul much more, but that’s just my opinion.Resident Evil 4 was released in 2005 for the GameCube and PS2, and has been ported to numerous platforms ever since, including a VR version for Oculus Quest 2.The game is famous for having numerous scrapped builds, and the first version actually went on to become Devil May Cry.
