Remedy Says Its New Multiplayer Title, FBC: Firebreak “Isn’t A Second Job,” Revealing It Won’t Have A Battle Pass, No Daily Check-Ins, And More

FBC: Firebreak is unlike the games Remedy Entertainment usually makes, simply due to the fact that it’s an online multiplayer game. Remedy is renowned for their single-player experiences, so what would a multiplayer game from them look like? We’re starting to get a better picture of that, now that multiple previews for Firebreak have been published, and, almost unsurprisingly, a Remedy multiplayer game is one that leaves out what’s regarded as the worst aspects of modern multiplayer titles. An Xbox Wire post reveals that FBC: Firebreak won’t include a battle pass, it won’t include daily check-in challenges. You’ll still be able to play with your friends if you’ve bought the latest expansion but they haven’t, and there won’t be any limited-time events to create FOMO around. As Remedy put it, “this game isn’t a second job.”It’s not surprising that Remedy would choose to not include modern live service game features, because those are for games that want to eat up all of your time, and are constantly asking for more of your money.FBC: Firebreak will be a premium release, not a free-to-play game, so it’s that initial sale that matters to Remedy more than you buying the latest skin. On that note, there will be microtransactions, but they’ll just be cosmetic based, and won’t go further than that. We’ll all be able to try out FBC: Firebreak this coming summer when it launches on PS5 and other current-gen platforms, and as it launches into the PS Plus Extra Game Catalog. It’s always good to hear about a new multiplayer game that’s not trying to drain its players dry of every available dollar they have, and with Remedy behind it, that’s a guarantee that this will be a game to keep your eye on.Source – [Xbox Wire]
