Remedy Reports A 16% Rise In Revenue And Alan Wake 2 Has Made Back “Most Of Its Development Costs”

The curse of Remedy Entertainment’s existence has been that it’s a studio that will make beloved and critically acclaimed games that unfortunately aren’t able to crack the top of the sales charts. That curse has slowly begun to break since 2019’s Control, and now after last year’s stellar release of Alan Wake 2, things are getting better all the time for Remedy. In the studio’s most recent financial report for 2024’s second quarter, it reported a revenue increase of 16% compared to last year, and while Alan Wake 2 has still yet to totally make back its development costs, chief executive officer Tero Virtala says that “at the time of publishing this report, Alan Wake 2 has recouped most of its development and marketing expenses.”Back in April it was reported that Alan Wake 2 hadn’t yet made its development costs back since its launch late last year. That hasn’t changed, but it’s clear from Virtala’s wording this time around that it’s much closer, and it wouldn’t be surprising if by the next quarterly report, it has made back its costs and is officially bringing in profits. In the meantime, Remedy is going to continue focusing on what it ought to be focusing on – delivering games at the quality bar it always has, and expanding its “Remedy Connected Universe” between Control and Alan Wake, especially now that Remedy wholly owns those IP’s.Source – [Remedy Entertainment]
