Red Bull M.E.O (Mobile Esports Open), an Indian esports event organised by energy drink brand Red Bull, will return this year with two mobile events in Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) and World Cricket Championship.
The event will commence from October 29th until early December, with the LAN finals occurring in Chennai, India on December 1st.
Red Bull M.E.O is a large esports event focused on mobile games that starts with open qualifiers and registrations. There is no limit on the number of players, making it accessible to a very large number of people. This has made it a popular BGMI event in India in previous seasons. The 2024 edition will be the seventh season of the tournament.
This time around, Red Bull has announced the addition of a new game, the World Cricket Championship, which is the official mobile game of the top-level cricket tournament. In addition to Red Bull, other events such as DreamHack India will also feature World Cricket Championship tournaments.
All of the teams that apply to the event will go through an open qualifier segment, with the top 32 teams qualifying. These teams will be joined by 32 invited teams in the pre-quarterfinals stage, with half of the teams advancing further.
Interestingly, the event offers no prize pool, instead rewarding the best teams with unique experiences. The winner of the BGMI tournament will get a chance to attend an F1 event via a Red Bull Racing experience, and the winner of the WCC tournament will get a match-day experience with cricket club Rajasthan Royals.
