Realme’s MWC 2022 event included the global launch of the GT2 series phones as well as the Book Prime laptop and Buds Air 3 wireless earphones. In addition, Realme also unveiled its UltraDart charging solutions which offer 100-200W speeds.

We attended a group media interview session after the event where Realme VP and head of Realme International Business Group Madhav Sheth revealed some more details about upcoming Realme products and developments.

We got confirmation that Realme GT Neo3 will launch in the second half of this year with 150W UltraDart charging capabilities. GT Neo3 will be one of the first phones powered by MediaTek’s brand new Dimensity 8100 chipset.

Realme is also working on a phone with an under-display camera which will be released sometime in H2. The executive shared that Realme is openly experimenting with different smartphone form factors including foldable phones. Unfortunately, we don’t get a set time frame for the foldable’s commercial release.

Realme’s MagDart magnetic charging system is still due to launch though it is being optimized as the current versions involve too several compromises for users. The key constraint is the available space inside MagDart compatible phones which results in phones that are too thick or have small battery capacities.

Madhav Sheth also elaborated on the brand’s decision to include a 3MP microscope camera on its GT 2 Pro instead of a telephoto module because it offers functionality that can’t be matched by the other two sensors.

Realme believes it can offer close enough results to telephoto cameras via digital zoom and crops from the main sensors alongside its computational photography software.
