Rainbow Six Siege creative director Leroy Athanassof has played down the idea of a full-blown sequel to the squad-based shooter, saying the team doesn’t feel this is what the community needs.Speaking during a Reddit AMA, Athanassof noted that Rainbow Six Siege is constantly evolving on an incremental basis, something which the team feels is the best way forward.Siege is an evolving game. The Siege of the future will be dramatically different from today’s Siege, to the point where we could call it Siege 2. However, as a team, we strongly believe we can bring about these changes in an incremental way, within the current Siege framework.Siege 2 would mean a new game, a new environment, probably a new inventory and maybe a new dev team. We do not feel that this is what is needed for the community. We care about your investment in the game, we do not want to move to a new one.Instead, we want to protect your investment and increase its value it by making your current ‘home’ (which is SIEGE) even better. It’s like renovations to your old house to make it up to date, shiny and appealing.Related Content – Sony PS5 Complete Guide – A Total Resource On PlayStation 5Rainbow Six Siege was released for PS4, PC, and Xbox One in December 2015, and has received a robust post-launch content slate ever since, to the point where it’s virtually unrecognisable from its vanilla incarnation. The game has been optimised for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S too, and will receive Cross-Play and Cross-Progression at some point early next year.[Source – Reddit]
