According to the announcement, the event will take place sometime in November 2021 and will end in January 2022. James Yang, Director of PUBG Mobile Esports mentioned PMGC will be the biggest esports event in the game’s history. Top teams from both the league stage and finals of PUBG Mobile Pro League (PMPL) 2021 seasons will qualify for the PMGC. Top teams from Regional Championships also have a chance to qualify for PMGC.
Tencent hasn’t confirmed whether the tournament will take place online. However, the company will try to conduct the event offline, if the pandemic situation gets better. The company’s is likelty to be cautious since the 2020 PUBG Mobile Global Championship had three players who tested positive. That resulted in the players competing in isolation from their hotel rooms. That said, even if Tencent organizes PMGC with strict rules of social distancing, the event will be great considering the top teams will go head to head for incredible prize money.
