PSVR 2 release date speculations are running wild once again. Trust internet sleuths to go to every length possible to uncover information that you didn’t know you’d be interested in. It’s not unusual to peruse LinkedIn profiles and job listings, but this one takes the cake. Folks over at TweakTown have somehow found a ledger entry for international shipments from London, UK to Virginia, US, revealing that Sony Interactive Entertainment sent out a shipment of unspecified consoles labelled as prototypes back in November. Is PSVR 2 release date around the corner?A lot of people’s first guess is that Sony’s probably shipping PS5s but that wouldn’t make sense for two reasons, with the obvious one being that the PS5 has already been released and wouldn’t be marked as a prototype. Secondly, Sony is unlikely to ship its finished products from London to Virginia. Then again, we don’t know what route Sony’s shipments take and why. Interestingly, a recent report suggests that PSVR 2 is planned for release in Q1 2023 and Sony plans to begin manufacturing sometime in the summer. Considering this, a shipment of PSVR 2 prototypes seems like a more plausible theory.According to TweakTown, the shipment weighed 1,500lbs distributed in four cartons. Make of this what you will.Opinion: Is that you, PS5 Pro?Zarmena writes… Here’s a wild one: a recently-filed patent application by PlayStation architect Mark Cerny revealed that Sony’s looking to improve ray tracing in video games. According to Digital Foundry, the patent describes hardware not in the current models of PS5, which led some folks to wonder if Sony was toying with a PS5 Pro of sorts. You know where I’m going with this, right? Don’t mind me, I’m just speculating, but crazier things have happened…In other news, Elden Ring is the biggest non-Call of Duty and non-FIFA launch in the UK since Red Dead Redemption 2, and Gran Turismo 7‘s future updates have been outlined.[Source: SeAir via TweakTown]
