September 2024’s PS5 system software update seems to have permanently removed a previously intermittent feature. The Resume Activity function was the closest the PS5 ever got to Xbox’s Quick Resume ability, but it was always inconsistent. Now, it seems to be gone for good.
Sony hasn’t said why Resume Activity feature was removed in latest PS5 update
Resume Activity may not have been a popular feature, but it was used by enough players for dozens of forum posts to have popped up about it. For those who weren’t familiar with it, PS5’s game activity cards allowed players to jump back into specific points in a game using Resume Activity.
For some reason, the feature appeared intermittently… until the latest PS5 firmware update, that is. Bizarrely, some players claim that they are still able to see Resume Activity but can’t use it, while others say it’s gone completely. I am one of those who no longer sees the feature.
At this point, we’re not sure if Resume Activity was intentionally pulled or if this is a bug as there’s nothing about it in official patch notes. The optimist in me hopes Sony temporarily took it offline to fix it (especially since the update caused quite a few issues), but don’t hold your breath.
