It has been a little over a month since the PS5 Pro launched. Although many criticized Sony for the enhanced console’s pricing, it seems PlayStation fans still opted for the upgrade. During November 2024, it accounted for a good chunk of the PS5’s overall sales.

PS5 Pro launch dollar sales higher than PS4 Pro

Circana Executive Director and Video Game Industry Analyst Mat Piscatella posted their November 2024 U.S. video game market highlights on Bluesky earlier today. In their analysis, they found that the PS5 was the best-selling hardware platform for the month both in unit and dollar sales.

“PlayStation 5 Pro accounted for 19% of total PlayStation 5 units sold in the month and 28% of dollars,” says Piscatella. “Launch month dollar sales of PlayStation 5 Pro were more than 50% higher than the November 2016 launch month sales of PlayStation 4 Pro, while units were 12% lower.”

While PS5 hardware saw growth, video game hardware spending growth in November 2024 was “flat” compared to last year.

“November video game hardware spending was flat when compared to a year ago, at $927 million,” says Piscatella. “15% spending growth on PlayStation 5 hardware was offset by a 29% year-on-year drop in Xbox Series spending and a 3% decline in Switch.”

Piscatella also posted the November 2024 U.S. Top 20 Best-Selling Games. These include both physical and digital sales. For Sony, they only occupy two spots with Astro Bot, and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. Astro Bot ranked 13th, while Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 ranked 14th. While both are in the bottom half, both jumped up in ranking. Astro Bot was 15th last month, and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 was 22nd.

Although it isn’t published by Sony, the PS5 console exclusive Silent Hill 2 was ranked 15th in sales for November 2024. It did drop from its 3rd place rank from last month.

The 2024 Year-to-Date Top 20 Games are essentially bookended by Sony games. Helldivers is ranked 3rd while Marvel’s Spider-Man is ranked 20th. The PS5 console exclusive Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth is ranked 15th.
