Those anticipating the PS5 Discord voice chat integration release date will have to hold tight for a little longer, as reports suggest that it won’t be rolled out to PlayStation systems until March 8, 2023.
PS5 Discord release date is still “months away”
Reports from Insider-Gaming’s anonymous source state that PlayStation Discord integration is still months away, with the expected release date being March 8, 2023. On that date, system software update 7.00 will reportedly implement Discord.
If the reports prove accurate, once Discord is fully integrated with PlayStation, those on PS5 will be able to enjoy both voice chat and display the game that they are playing. PS4 users will just be able to display the game that they are playing, meaning no voice chat on PlayStation 4.
When it does eventually arrive, PS5 users will have a dependable new voice chat app that can be used to talk across platforms. This includes Xbox, users of which have enjoyed Discord support since July.
While PS5 users can’t yet get the service’s voice chat to work, it is still possible to stream PS5 gameplay to Discord, provided they don’t mind jumping through a few hoops.
Hopefully an official announcement is made soon, making it crystal clear when exactly PlayStation users can expect Discord to be added.
