YouTuber Lowest Logan has run a series of tests that indicate the standard PS5 console is capable of emulating PS3 games at a hardware level, which puts into question previous claims that Sony’s system is not able to perform PS3 emulation. The test was run using an AMD BC-25 mining card, which includes PS5 silicon and 16GB of GDDR6 RAM, although it was missing two CPU cores and functioning with 24 compute units as opposed to 34 units. Despite missing these elements, PS3 titles such as Gran Turismo 5 and LittleBIgPlanet were able to run without issues at base and high resolutions using the RPCS3 emulator.
