One of PS Portal‘s most glaring issues seems to be fixed despite it not being included in the most recent patch notes. The microstuttering that has plagued the gaming device since launch is finally no more.

Many PS Portal users confirm the long-running microstuttering issue is fixed

Although it isn’t included in the most recent patch notes, many PS Portal users have taken to Reddit to confirm the fix. Two posts from the PlayStation Portal subreddit use slow motion video to prove that microstuttering is no longer an issue. Specifically, these users tested with The Crew: Motorfest, and Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth. From those two videos, it does seem the problem is gone.

Another user tested NBA 2K25, Days Gone, and Dead Cells, and received favorable results, saying they hardly noticed any microstutter at all. These specific games were used as they were easy to perceive the issue. Other people in the thread tested with other games like EA FC 25, and Call of Duty Black Ops 6 garnering the same successful results. It may be safe to say one of PS Portal’s biggest issues has finally been resolved.

Sony released the new PS Portal update yesterday. Probably its biggest feature now allows players to stream games directly from the PS Plus catalog without the need of the PS5. Cloud streaming is only available for PS Plus Premium subscribers and is currently in beta. Other improvements include adjusted volume level on speaker, the ability to change settings on PS Link devices, and improved messages and usability on some screens.

The PS Portal seems to be doing well for Sony, as sales have been strong since its launch. Despite the general consensus from critics that the device is too much money for its limited functionality, it is still 2024’s best selling accessory in the U.S.
