Poco’s entry-level C-line is getting ready to welcome a new member in the form of the Poco C55. Poco’s official Twitter account for India has today started teasing the upcoming device, promising, as you can see, that it delivers “Speed and swag”.

Now sure, that might just sound like run of the mill marketing speak, but it’s a bit more than that. “Avoid cases”? “Good looks”?

As it turns out, those two things are connected to the design of the phone’s back, to which the quick teaser video above actually alludes. We know that because a prolific leakster has shared the image you can see below, which shows that the Poco C55 will have a faux leather look, with faux seams running through the middle, vertically.

Absolutely loving the colors and finishes POCO has chosen recently for their products. Here’s your first look at the upcoming C series budget smartphone. There’s a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor housed in the huge black island at the top, flanked to the right by a big Poco logo and to the left by a dual camera system. In between those cameras there’s a circle for the LED flash, and another circle which says “AI”.

As the model name implies, the Poco C55 should be the successor to the Poco C50. But it can’t be, since the C50 was just unveiled last month. So we assume it’s a higher specced device than that one, while still fitting into the entry-level category.

The design of the camera island does look suspiciously like that of the Redmi 12C, so it could be that the Poco C55 is nothing but a rebranded version of that model. If so, then it will have a 6.71-inch 720×1650 LCD touchscreen, the MediaTek Helio G85 SoC, 4/6GB of RAM, 64/128GB of storage, a 50 MP rear camera with a 0.08 MP depth sensor alongside it, a 5 MP selfie snapper, and a 5,000 mAh battery with 10W wired charging support.

Compared to the Poco C50, the C55 would thus have a bigger display, a better chipset, more RAM and storage, and a higher-res main camera.
