Plowman Craven, a leading international surveying company, announces its entry into the Australian market with the opening of an office in Sydney. Serving as the cornerstone of its operations in the region, the new office will enable Plowman Craven to deliver its innovative surveying solutions to the Australian property and construction industry.

Mark Howells, who has been appointed to the role of Managing Director of Plowman Craven Australia, will oversee the strategic business direction and growth objectives in the region. With extensive leadership experience in the geomatics, real estate, and engineering sectors, Mark previously spent over 20 years with Plowman Craven in the UK, latterly serving as Sales Director at the Board level. After relocating to Australia in 2023, he has re-joined the company to support its expansion in the Australian market.

For over 60 years, Plowman Craven has specialised in delivering high-quality geospatial data for sectors including property, rail, infrastructure and logistics. As one of the largest surveying companies in the UK, with additional offices in the US and India, Plowman Craven secured private equity backing from Agathos in April to accelerate its international expansion, including its entry into the Australian market, and development of its digital service offering.

Plowman Craven’s proprietary capabilities can support projects of any scale, from concept to completion, from detailed surveys to advanced 3D modelling and data analysis. Leveraging innovative data capture technologies results in greater precision, faster delivery times, enhanced efficiencies and reduced costs. Its comprehensive range of services includes:

Leasing Surveys: to inform the accurate measurement and effective management of leasable areas;

Building Information Modelling & BIM Consultancy: to optimise efficiencies for superior project outcomes;

Structural & Environmental Monitoring: manual and automated regimes to track structural changes, environmental conditions and other critical factors;

Aerial & Inspection Services: drone-based solutions that offer safe, efficient, and cost-effective options for rail surveys, infrastructure assessments, and other hard-to-reach environments;

Floor Flatness Surveys: utilising custom laser scanning techniques to precisely map logistics and industrial floors according to a range of global specifications.

Mark Howells, Managing Director at Plowman Craven Australia, said: “The launch of Plowman Craven Australia is a significant milestone for us. It’s a region that we are committed to and where we see tremendous potential. Our focus now is on the dynamic Sydney property market which, as economic conditions continue to stabilise in the coming months and into 2025, is set to see strong ongoing residential and commercial property demand.

“With a holistic service underpinned by innovation, client focus, and collaboration, our ambition is to become the trusted geomatics partner of choice. We’re excited to introduce Plowman Craven’s cutting-edge solutions to Australia and, as we continue to invest in skilled talent and advanced survey technologies for the benefit of existing and new clients operating in the region, look forward to sharing further announcements in due course.”

Plowman Craven’s Australian operations will focus on delivering a range of specialist services tailored to the New South Wales property market. The company aims to expand its presence across Australia by building a strong regional team and entering new markets over the next year and beyond.
