Phil Spencer says there are no “red lines” for Xbox exclusives going to PlayStation

After bringing four Xbox exclusives to PlayStation and Switch earlier this year, Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer has refused to rule out bringing tentpole Microsoft franchises to other platforms. According to Spencer, there are no “red lines” preventing certain Xbox exclusives from launching on PlayStation.Halo, Gears, and more could end up on PlayStation in the futureIn a wide-ranging interview with Bloomberg, Spencer was asked about Microsoft’s multiplatform strategy and what we can expect from Microsoft on that front going forward. Spencer revealed that more titles will be launching on rival platforms in the future and that there are no restrictions on what games could make the jump. “I do not see sort of red lines in our portfolio that say ‘thou must not,'” Spencer said. The Xbox boss added that it was too early to make a decision on whether or not the next version of Halo will be multiplatform. So far, Microsoft has released four Xbox exclusives on other platforms (Sea of Thieves, Pentiment, Grounded, and Hi-Fi Rush), and while they are all excellent games in their own right, they’re not exactly what you’d call sacred tentpole Xbox franchises. The same can be said for Indiana Jones and The Great Circle and Doom: The Dark Ages which will also launch on PlayStation sometime in 2025.The next big Xbox game making the jump to PlayStation appears to be Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition, if new rumors are to be believed.
