PDP, makers of various themed controllers, headsets and other gaming peripherals for all platforms has unveiled a new guitar controller called the Riffmaster. For anyone who remembers the glory days of original Rock Band and Guitar Hero titles, it’s surprising at all to see a guitar peripheral in the year 2024.These plastic musical instruments are mostly a thing of the past, though this Riffmaster and the power of Fortnite Festival could be the beginning of a new era for these controllers. The Riffmaster will work out of the box with Rock Band 4 for both PS5 and PS4 consoles when it arrives sometime in Spring 2024, and it’s expected that support for Fortnite Festival will be announced later on.It’s a wireless controller, with fret buttons at both the top and bottom of the guitar neck, so you can properly feel like you’re rocking out during a sick solo.It also has every other feature anyone who has used something like this would expect. Strum bar, whammy bar, a D-pad to help navigate game menus, a main console button and both pause and share buttons. Some new additions being a 3.5mm headphone jack, so you can plug your headphones directly into your instrument and not worry about rocking out too hard for your neighbours. The guitar also includes a joystick, located at the top of the neck of the guitar. You can even fold the neck of the guitar down for easy storage.Even the required USB-A dongle, that makes its wireless connectivity sing, can be stored underneath the removable and replaceable pickguard.Pre-orders aren’t yet up for the Riffmaster, nor do we know how much this controller will set you back price wise. But if you’ve felt rejuvenated by Fortnite Festival, or if you’ve been a Rock Band loyalist and are wondering what to do next now that Harmonix is no longer supporting the game with new music, the Riffmaster could be the answer you’ve been looking for.Source – [PDP, IGN]
