Patapon Spiritual Successor Ratatan Kickstarter Launches, Gets Funded In Less Than An Hour

Patapon is the kind of classic PlayStation franchise that will likely never again see the light of day, but that hasn’t stopped Patapon’s creator, Hiroyuki Kotani from iterating and working on the next generation of Patapon, with Ratatan having been recently announced.Kotani and his team at Ratata Arts launched a Kickstarter for Ratatan’s development, which has a main goal covering a PC launch, and a stretch goal covering console launches, on Monday.It was funded for its main goal in less than an hour, tapping out at 47 minutes.“We did it! Thanks to all your help we were able to clear our initial goal in 47 minutes and give everyone at Ratata Arts the chance to make their dream game!” Ratata Arts said in its first community update on the Kickstarter page.“We’ve poured through all the different comments we’ve seen once we teased the game at Bitsummit and were a bit worried. It seems like many people have had bad experiences with crowdfunding and we didn’t know if enough people would support this project.That’s why we are so happy to see even today this many people have faith in this project! It really is the only way for a creator to own their IP and have full control over the games they make so thank you again!”Ratatan’s funding continues to go up with more than 1300 backers at time of writing, so hopefully it is able to reach its stretch goal and release a version of Ratatan on PS5 and PS4.Veteran Patapon fans would definitely love to see it come to PlayStation, especially with how much history the series has with the platform.
