Thunderful has just added another interesting new game to its portfolio, unveiling crafty horror roguelite Paper Cut Mansion which is due to release for Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One later this year.Paper Cut Mansion sees us set out as a detective to look into mysterious goings-on at the titular big ol’ spooky house. The unique art style has been a labour of love for the team, with every texture drawn by hand, scanned in, and mapped to the game’s card-like models to give an authentic papercraft feel — every tear, smudge, nick, and crease helps sell the illusion, as does the visible corrugation on thicker elements of the environments. Gameplay seems equally creative, combining mystery, horror, combat, puzzles, and more via a roguelite framework, and with the ability to hop between three different dimensions to see each room painted in a new light and discover what secrets they might hold.”We wanted to create something unique, but that draws inspiration from the classic Eighties and Nineties works of Tim Burton and Jim Henson,” explains Gabriele Caruso from developer Space Lizard Studios. “The team has worked really hard to create a mysterious and visually appealing world that’s going to draw players in, and provide them with a compelling roguelite loop that’s going to keep them coming back.”What do you make of this creepy cardboard caper?
