Even though the game’s popularity declined a bit in the last couple of years, Overwatch 2 is just behind the corner. Hence, we expect the game to rise from the ashes once more.

Calling someone the best at something is not easy, especially when it comes down to gaming. Since Overwatch is a game where people have different roles, no one is the best at everything.
That’s why we’ve decided to show you which players we think are the best while playing with certain heroes. Everything you are about to see is based on personal preferences, so your list of the best players might be different.
Huang “leave” Xin – Echo
We will start with one of the most interesting DPS heroes in Overwatch called Echo. Ever since she was added to the game, she quickly became the go-to option for many players. Sadly, only a few of them can utilize her potential.
Speaking of using the hero properly, there is one player that stands out, and his name is Huang “leave” Xin. The 20 years old Chinese Superstar currently plays for Chengdu Hunters and is often regarded as the best Echo player in the world.
We’ve seen him in action multiple times during the Overwatch League 2021, where he had the chance to shine with many heroes. The Chinese DPS was amazing, despite not having as much experience on Echo as other top-tier players. He played a crucial role for his team and deserved his success.
Dong-ha “Doha” Kim – Reaper
Although Reaper is not one of the most famous heroes in the highest level of ranked games, the hero is often essential for professional teams. Almost everyone uses him, including Dallas Fuel and their 21-year-old damage dealer from South Korea.
Dong-ha “Doha” Kim is a well-known DPS player with several years of experience. Even though he is famous for being good with heroes like Sombra and Pharah, he is also an excellent Reaper player.
What sets him apart from his competitors is his exceptional positioning. He is always there when his team needs him. Doha had 134 eliminations and 27 deaths during the OW League in 2021, which is impressive.
Yeong-han “SP9RK1E” Kim – Tracer
If there is one hero that we love to watch when spectating some of the best teams in the world, it has to be Tracer. The swift DPS can make a huge difference and is one of the reasons why some teams are so successful.
Speaking of success, we think Yeong-han “SP9RK1E” Kim is probably the best Tracer player in the world. Even though his team Dallas Fuel lost in the LB Final against Atlanta Reign during OWL 2021, SP9RK1E played exceptionally well throughout the event.
The player secured himself 326 kills and did more than 127k damage. There were a couple of other prominent Tracer players, but this one was in a league of his own.
Jae-hyeok “Carpe” Lee – Widowmaker
Widowmaker is one of the heroes in Overwatch that does not have as many fans as other DPS. Since her damage output is not as high as other heroes in the game, she is usually used in specific scenarios. For example, many professional teams get her when they need to kill a given target from a distance.
During the OWL 2021, we saw a couple of exciting Widow players. Some may think that Kai “Kai” Collins was the best, but we think that Jae-hyeok “Carpe” Lee and his sick plays for the Philadelphia Fusion deserve to be on the list. With that being said, even the best players in the world didn’t use Widow that often. This is a sign that the hero needs some changes.
Nikolai “Naga” Dereli – Pharah
While we are on the topic of heroes that are not as popular as others, we have to mention Pharah. If you look at some of our articles where we check the stats, you can see that this hero is not that popular in the current meta. Despite that, we saw several players using it during the OWL 2021, and one of them was Nikolai “Naga” Dereli.
The 21-year-old Danish player who used to be a part of Paris Eternal decided to go for Pharah numerous times. As expected, he did pretty well and showed the world that the hero can be played successfully.
Byung-sun “Fleta” Kim – Genji
There are a couple of DPS heroes that work in almost any meta and every bracket. One of them is Genji. The deadly cyborg-ninja can become the strongest hero in the game in the hands of some professional players.
Speaking of using the hero, we have to include Fleta because he is the best Genji player in the world. The player has proven himself countless times through the years, including during the OWL 2021. After playing a crucial role for his team Shangain Dragons, the latter won the league. Needless to say, this makes them one of the best teams in the world.
Se-hyun “Pelican” Oh – Sombra
Sombra is a deadly hero, but only if you can use the hero’s full potential. Even though most people who play Overwatch for fun do not fall into this category, professional players are special. One of them is Se-hyun “Pelican” Oh, Houston Outlaws’ main damage dealer.
Although he is notorious for being one of the best Echo and Tracer players in the world, he also shined numerous times with his Sombra. The hero is not that popular in the current meta, but he always finds a way to make her work.
