2023 is almost over, and we saw a lot of Overwatch 2 changes. With that said, here is our Overwatch 2 2024 wishlist.
People have a lot of expectations from Overwatch 2 in 2024 because the last couple of updates have been really good. In case you’ve missed it, Overwatch 2 Season 8 arrived, and it offered players a lot of interesting changes, including a new hero.
It’s been a couple of weeks since the new season is out, and we even have a list of some of the best heroes to get right now. With that said, we are one week away from 2024, so let’s see our Overwatch 2 2024 wishlist and everything we expect to see next year.
Add Talents
If we take a look at other popular games like Dota 2 or even Blizzard’s titles, such as Warcraft Rumble, we can see that the heroes there (even units) have talents. This is something we have not seen in Overwatch 2 so far, and we definitely want to see it added in 2024.
One of the reasons why Blizzard probably hasn’t added talents in Overwatch 2 is because they will make the game more complex. Also, this will make Overwatch 2 feel more like an RPG rather than a first-person shooter, which is true, but those things will make a game more interesting. No wonder a lot of people have it on their Overwatch 2 2024 wishlist.
Map Editor
When talking about the Overwatch 2 2024 wishlist, something that almost everyone wants to see in the game is a map editor. Similar tools exist in other games, such as Counter-Strike 2, and it’s no surprise people are using them all the time.
Adding a map editor to our favorite game will make it a lot more interesting because players can come up with new ideas and concepts. Of course, Blizzard can also use this to their advantage and implement ideas suggested by other users.
The Map editor could be in the form of a separate tool that you have to download, but knowing Blizzard, we expect to see it as an in-game option.
Allow players to play game modes with the heroes’ older abilities
Everyone who’s been a fan of Overwatch probably knows that the game has had a lot of changes over the years. A lot of the abilities we see now were not available before or have had many changes. Sadly, there is no way to see what they felt like before, so this is something we wanted to talk about in our Overwatch 2 2024 wishlist.
Having a special mode or a map where you can choose from some of the older abilities in the game will be really interesting. New players will be able to experience their favorite heroes like never before, and they will see why certain abilities are no longer available.
There are a lot of things that Blizzard can implement if they want to, but we are yet to see if this change will become available. Judging from the most recent changes, the people behind Overwatch 2 are listening to what others have to say.
New Collaborations
Blizzard is well-known for doing collaborations with all kinds of companies and businesses. Considering that 2023 was when we saw the Overwatch 2 x Le Sserafim event, we expect to see a lot of other collaborations. That’s why this is one of the things on our 2024 Overwatch 2 Wishlist.
When talking about collaborations, there are tons of things that Blizzard can go for. Besides teaming up with different pop or sports stars (players like Luka Doncic were spotted playing), we could see a collaboration between another popular game. In fact, we wouldn’t be surprised if the people behind OW decide to team up with some of their competitors. It will be really interesting to see the final outcome of such an event because the community should have access to a lot of cosmetic items.
More experiments with PvE
Something that we wanted to address in our Overwatch 2 2024 wishlist is that we expect Blizzard to come up with more PvE content. The team finally made the first steps in late 2023 by allowing us to play some sort of PvE, and it’s safe to say that people liked it. Considering that the game is now also available on Steam, a lot of new players are making their way to Overwatch, and they will be more than happy if they can choose between PVP and PvE.
When talking about PvE experiments, there are all sorts of things that Overwatch 2 devs can do. If we take a look at other games from Blizzard, we can see that this one can allow us to play in dungeons, do raids, and much more. Of course, the team needs to be smart and implement those changes in a way that will keep Overwatch 2’s distinct characteristics.
Higher quality for Console players
A lot of people use things like the PlayStation 5, and we are no exception. Overwatch 2 is a game that you can find on a lot of different platforms (including PS5), but when you compare it to the PC version, you can see that there are significant differences.
To make a long story short, the PS version is not as refined as the one for PC. We saw a lot of bugs lately, including the Overwatch lagging on PS5, which made the game almost unplayable. Thankfully, Blizzard has fixed this, but we want to see a lot more changes in the future that will provide console players with a better experience.
Something that is on our Overwatch 2 2024 wishlist is for Blizzard to optimize all console settings and make sure the game is better optimized for console fans. This will require a solid investment, but considering that more and more players choose to game on a PS, it is probably worth it in the long run.
