A short while back we reviewed Realme’s current top of the line smartphone, the GT, but the company has also created a spinoff of sorts in the GT Neo. At least that’s the name in China, for Realme has launched the exact same device in India as the X7 Max 5G.

It shares most of the features with the GT, save for the chipset, which in this case is MediaTek’s Dimensity 1200, incidentally that chip maker’s top of the line offering right now. We were excited to put the X7 Max 5G through the paces of our review process at the office since this is the first smartphone powered by this chipset that we’ve gotten our hands on.

And now it’s time for our findings, in our usual sweet and concise video format. As always, if you’re interested in a deep dive into what makes the phone tick, take a gander at our in-depth written review. If you want just the highlights, then hit play below and enjoy the ride.

The Realme X7 Max 5G / GT Neo is plastic on the rear, not glass like the GT, so that’s another difference between the two (or three, depending on how you count). There’s also the Dragontrail glass protection and a minor difference in HDR support, and of course performance is different because of the new SoC used – check out the video to find out how the X7 Max compares to its sibling as well as other similar devices from competing brands.
