Anti-woke grifters have found something new to be upset about: alleged Silent Hill 2 remake censorship. The usual suspects took a break from Ghost of Yotei to focus their energies on manufacturing another controversy, and this time, they’ve decided to drag Silent Hill 2’s original devs into it.
Silent Hill 2 remake’s Wikipedia page hijacked following claims of censorship
Bloober Team’s Silent Hill 2 got a stellar critic reception, but over the weekend, trolls hijacked the game’s Wikipedia page to change the game’s scores. Wikipedia has since locked the page down, but the group has moved on to Silent Hill 2’s Steam page as well as X. The main complaint? Maria has been “censored” and Angela looks “ugly.”
Legendary artist Masahiro Ito found himself arguing with the trolls, but he quickly learned the art of blocking and has since decided not to engage with them. Before blocking, however, Ito had some succinct advice: be an adult.
Masahiro Ito (@adsk4) October 4, 2024
I really wish they were not children but adults.— 伊藤暢達/Masahiro Ito (@adsk4) October 7, 2024
Masashi Tsuboyama, who directed the original Silent Hill 2, also chimed in (spoiler: he’s happy with the remake).
About Silent Hill 2 remake?Games and technology are constantly evolving, resulting in significant differences in constraints and levels of expression. This is a common issue with media arts in general, but it is not easy to maintain and appreciate the environment of the time.— 坪山 優史/Masashi Tsuboyama (@tsuboyama2024) October 4, 2024
As I’ve said before, these grifters don’t actually play games, they only cry about them, as evidenced by complaints like these:
Silent Hill 2 is out tomorrow, October 8. Get ready to use your block buttons in case you enjoy the game.
