The tournament will feature two Rocket League teams from Oceania (Renegades and Ground Zero Gaming) and MENA (Sandrock Gaming and Falcons Esports). The teams will compete for a $3,800 AUD (~£1,996) shared prize pool which will be split 50/50 to the finalists.

The competition is set to take place on 4th February at 1am AEST and will be broadcast on ORDER’s official Twitch channel.

According to the release, the event looks to unite OCE and MENA teams on the world stage. Moreover, the event reportedly marks the first-of-its-kind competition at the World Expo.

The World Expo is an international exhibition dedicated to showcasing the achievements of nations globally. The Expo 2020, which was originally scheduled for 2020, is taking place in Dubai from October 1st 2021 to March 31st 2022. The theme of this edition of the fair is ‘Connecting Minds, Creating the Future’.

Marc Edwards, ORDER CEO, spoke on the announcement: “As ORDER continues to grow and diversify operations, we’ve recognised gaming events as a key driver of the ecosystem – we’re absolutely thrilled to be partnering with the Australian Pavilion and the Victorian Government to bring esports and gaming to the World Expo Dubai 2020.”

The Australian Pavilion is an event space at the World Expo 2020 dedicated to sharing advances in Aussie innovation, mobility and sustainable futures. The Rocket League invitational event presented by ORDER is set to be an immersive and entertaining emblem of many of these advances, including the innovative use of technology to connect competitors globally and make events more accessible.

Esports Insider says: It’s good to see esports being featured at international exhibitions such as World Expo, as it will optimistically help introduce the concept of esports to the wider public. Since Rocket League is one of the most audience-friendly esports titles out there, choosing the game for this purpose seems like a great move by ORDER.
