Jensen Huang has officially unveiled the brand new Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 Ti at the CES 2025 trade show, a mid-tier gaming GPU that looks to have had a serious memory upgrade over the RTX 4070 Ti. It’s also a GPU which Nvidia is claiming to be two times faster, performance wise, than the last-gen model it replaces, thanks partly to the Blackwell GPU’s new DLSS 4 capabilities.
Unlike the RTX 4070 Ti, which as the RTX 4080 12GB was first “unlaunched” in a post-announcement rebrand before finally being overshadowed by the RTX 4070 Super, this new Nvidia Ti model GPU looks set to have a slightly less bumpy launch schedule. Time will tell to see if it can compete to be the best graphics card for the average gamer, however, with stiff competition from the RTX 5070 and RTX 5080, in particular.

The RTX 5070 release date is February 2025, launching a month after the RTX 5090, which is a much sooner release schedule than previous mid-tier Nvidia GPU releases.
Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 Ti price
The RTX 5070 Ti price is $749 at MSRP, meaning that we’d expect that to be the price for Founders Editions cards on sale, which is $50 less than the RTX 4070 Ti’s MSRP on launch. However, if the GPU market this time around is anything like the 40-series, we’ll be expecting to see RTX 5070 Ti cards, especially third-party cards with overclocked specs, ship with a higher price tag from retailers.

The Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 Ti specs look pretty good for this gen’s mid-tier round, offering a noticeable step up from both the RTX 4070 and RTX 5070 below it. It has 8,960 CUDA cores, 37% more than the RTX 5070’s 6,144 cores, giving it a healthy boost in processing power, with only a modest 15W increase in power draw compared to the RTX 4070 Ti.
It also ships with the same 256-bit memory bus as the RTX 5080, and while the 16GB VRAM capacity remains the same as the 4070 Ti, this new GPU has seen an upgrade to GDDR7 memory chips. The new chips will offer a 78% bandwidth increase over the RTX 4070 Ti’s GDDR6X memory, offering 896GB/s vs the 4070’s 504GB/s.
The pretty generous uplift in the RTX 5070 Ti’s specs is supported by new DLSS 4 upscaling and frame generation technology with neural rendering. According to Nvidia, this tech allows up to three frames to be generated by AI, helping to significantly boost frame rates in-game, although it hasn’t been tested in the real world just yet.
It also helps Nvidia to claim that in certain games like Cyberpunk 2077, Black Myth: Wukong, and Alan Wake 2, the RTX 5070 Ti saw double the frame rate performance compared to a 4070 Ti at 1440p, thanks to the power of DLSS 4 and full ray tracing, although it’s important to point out that not every game will support it.
The $749 price tag makes the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 Ti a reasonable option for the average gamer compared to the 40-series, but a lot will depend on real-world performance, especially compared to the RTX 5070. Better AI upscaling and frame generation seems to be the talking point of this 50-series launch, with Nvidia claiming that the RTX 5070 below it offers “4090 performance for $549.”
If that’s true, gamers may choose to save the extra $200 here and rely on AI with the RTX 5070, or they might prefer to do things the old fashion way with the RTX 5070 Ti which, on paper, offers decent power and performance uplifts, especially compared to the last-gen model it replaces, even before we consider the impact of DLSS 4 on performance. We’ll have to wait until February until we can test both cards out and judge that for ourselves, however.
