nubia Z60 Ultra Leading Version [Hardware] review – Technical Meets Minimal – Gamezebo

I recently had the pleasure of being sent a nubia Z60 Ultra Leading Version to review, and I couldn’t be more excited to share my experience. nubia mixes AI technology and a minimal design to create a powerful and sturdy device that is good for everything. If you want to find out more, you can visit the official website.

As I started unboxing, the first thing I noticed was that I got sent the wrong plug socket and adapter. I live in the UK, and the charger I was sent didn’t fit our plug sockets. Luckily, I had a spare cable and connector that fitted, so it wasn’t a total loss. However, I can imagine this could pose a problem for those who don’t have an extra.

What took me by surprise was the clear plastic phone case that came with it. When I say plastic, I don’t mean the flimsy and bendable type. I mean the extremely strong and hard plastic! I can be pretty clumsy, so having that extra layer of protection completely got rid of any worries I had in case I did drop it (but I’m happy to announce that I haven’t). The step-up process was really easy, and I had no trouble linking the device to my Google account.

What Is It Like To Use?

To test out how it works, I decided to download a game I’ve wanted to try for a long time called Love and Deepspace. I opted for this not only because I love Otome games, but also because I tried to download it on my previous phone, and it wouldn’t work. With the nubia Z60 Ultra Leading Version, I downloaded it with ease. I was ready to play within minutes, as all the content was quickly downloaded.

The graphics blew me away. The picture is so clear, and I can now see my 3D boyfriend, Zayne, in all his glory. I was even more impressed with the sound quality. Love and Deepspace has a lot of scenes where characters speak to each other, and I loved being able to hear them clearly. The game never lagged, and it ran smoothly (which it couldn’t do on my regular phone).

During the battle scenes where I had to turn the screen horizontally, the nubia Z60 Ultra Leading Version was comfortable to hold, and I had no issues reaching the different buttons on the screen to control my character.

The Side Button

What interested me the most was the small button to the side that I could slide up to automatically open certain apps. You can toggle it so it opens the camera, game space, flashlight, voice recorder, or sound. The default setting is opening the camera. I changed it to open the game space, and I’m glad I switched! After sliding the button, the game space opens and you can add any downloaded games to one place. This saved a lot of time scrolling through the home page to find them.

Although I can see why the side button would be useful for opening important apps rather than swiping to find them, I didn’t find myself using it too much. By no means is this a poor reflection, it’s just a personal preference! But it was useful having all of my games stored in one place to easily open.

The Camera

The camera comes with the basics of your average phone camera: video, photo, portrait mode, night mode, timer, and a variety of filters. But the nubia Z60 Ultra Leading Version has a lot more to it. There are three lenses – 18mm, 35mm, and 85mm. There are also Camera-Friendly options, Pro, and Milky Way Night to choose from.

Google Lens comes installed, which was probably my favourite thing about the camera. Spending a lot of time online, sometimes I find an image I like and am not sure where it comes from. Being able to use Google Lens immediately helped me identify anything I wanted answers to. (This is also how I ended up watching Bungo Stray Dogs, as I saw a picture of Nikolai online).

If anything, there was probably too much going on in the camera. Don’t get me wrong, the quality of the pictures is amazing, as it uses a high 400 PPI high pixel density and AI technology to enhance the visuals. Maybe it’s because I’m not a huge photograph person, but I found myself a little lost looking at all the different options.

What’s The Battery Like?

Before I explain how long the battery lasted, let me go into how quickly it took to charge. As I wasn’t using the charger that came with it, I was worried that it would charge slower… but there were no issues at all! The battery was flat when I first received it, but within three hours it was fully charged and ready to use.

My previous phone would die within two hours (despite having plenty of storage and not being that old). However, with the nubia Z60 Ultra Leading Version, I enjoyed hours of gameplay without needing to charge it.

To Buy Or Not To Buy?

Whether you’re looking for a new day-to-day phone, want a way to capture your memories in high-resolution, or to simp over 3D men (maybe the last one is just me). The nubia Z60 Ultra Leading Version can do it.

The process of setting the device up was simple and easy to follow. Although the different camera options and lenses did confuse me at times. That probably comes down to the fact I don’t regularly take photos! After spending some time fiddling around with the variety, it seemed a lot less daunting.

The sleek yet comfortable device is nice and lightweight, and it definitely brings in more technical features with a simple design.
