NRG vs G2 Esports Recap Worlds 2023 Swiss Stage Day 8.
That time again for an NA vs EU showdown, as the top seed from each region faces off for a spot at the main stage of Worlds. For NRG, they’ve had a much easier path to this stage, while G2 has had probably one of the hardest runs. The winner will secure a spot at the main event, while the loser goes to the last chance 2-2 spot.
NRG vs G2 Esports Recap Game 1
A big first blood for G2, as Yike gangs into the mid lane to secure a kill onto Palafox. For NRG, however, they were able to get a kill on the bot side as G2 were caught overstaying. Big team fight in the mid lane, and while G2 had the player advantage, the ultimate from FBI from the bot side turned the fight as NRG took the kill, two turret plates, and a Rift Herald. 11 minutes on the clock, and NRG had found a 2k lead at the early stages. NRG were able to keep up the pressure, and despite G2 claiming another kill they were able to keep up the pressure and punished G2. With 17 minutes now on the clock, NRG had a 5k lead, and with a huge 5vs5 in the top side, NRG picked up an ace as G2 looked dead and buried in Game 1.
With Baron up, NRG needed to begin to prepare for it, and secure it safely. NRG decided to secure the safe Drake, as they claimed that objective on spawn, setting up Soul Drake. Baron was started by NRG, but they pulled away to fight G2, as they took down three members and it’s a clean claim for NRG as G2 walked away with just two members alive. Baron was secured by NRG, as G2 respawned don’t other Rift, they threatened to fight but instead, both sides pulled away. NRG also claimed the Hex Soul Drake as that spawned on the Rift.
A fight kicks off at the G2 bot lane, and while it’s traded 1-for-1, NRG claimed the inhibitor. NRG found a chance to engage with G2 inside their own base, with Caps caught out. That was enough for NRG to turn the fight into a game win as NRG started this series off with a bang.
