“Nothing is too weird or too small” for new indie game event WASD Curios

WASD is a new consumer videogame show headed to the UK later this year as part of the London Games Festival 2022. The show will give attendees the opportunity to try some great games, meet some content creators, and hear about new and upcoming games from developers. Now, WASD is launching a new slice of the event which will let indie devs showcase their goodies for free.

Called WASD Curios, the event is looking to offer indie developers a platform to exhibit projects that “sit outside the mainstream; that do things a bit differently”, as the show’s blog announcement explains. This “different” aspect here can mean a whole bunch of different things – it could be that the games aren’t very far along into their development or that they use innovative or non-traditional controllers. It could also be that the project might not fall into the typical category of ‘games’ or be aiming towards a commercial release.

“Nothing is too weird or too small; we’re looking to make a balanced lineup of stuff that’s exciting and interesting for all sorts of different reasons,” the organisers explain on the application page. So, it sounds like there’s a lot of scope to show off all kinds of weird and wonderful projects at the show, WIP or not.

The good news is that the event is offering a lot of support for those looking to showcase their creations at WASD Curios. There’s no charge for entry or exhibition, with successful selections being present on the show floor during all three days it’s in swing. The event also provides the PC hardware for devs to show off their goods and there’s no obligation to attend.

If you’re keen to find out more or sign up for the chance to appear in WASD Curios, you can head to the sign-up page at that link. WASD runs from April 7-9 this year.
