YoungHorses has just announced a Kickstarter for Bugsnax: The Card Game – and no, it’s not an April Fools joke.Bugsnax was released back in 2020 and sent players to an island that was home to adorable and delicious kinda bug, kinda snack creatures known as Bugsnax. Now, these Bugsnax are jumping off the screen and onto a card game. You can check out the Kickstarter right here, which has an initial goal of $15,000, and learn more about the game below.ANNOUNCING: Bugsnax multiplayer. All it took was re-designing the game as a fun, easy-to learn card game, trapping all the snax in cards, and designing a Kickstarter campaign.Back BUGSNAX: THE CARD GAME to play with friends. 🐛🃏https://t.co/cQddXQM3LI pic.twitter.com/zwTgH1bqY1— Bugsnax (YH Games) (@YoungHorses) April 1, 2024 “Based on the hit video game, Bugsnax: The Card Game is a bite-sized race to eat your fill! Take on the role of your favorite Grumpus and use their unique ability cards, along with your tricky traps, to outwit the other players and overcome the Bugsnax defenses. Be the first to chow down on 6 points worth of Bugsnax, and you’ll be crowned the Snakmaster General,” the official description reads. There will be a standard mode and an advanced mode for players wanting more of a challenge, and the game promises it will be filled with 13 Grumpuses and 40 Bugsnax.Bugsnax: The Card Game is meant for 2-6 players and a standard game should take around 20 to 30 minutes to complete. If you choose to go the advanced route, you can expect a game to last around an hour. It’s also appropriate for all ages, but those seven and above may have the best experience. As with many Kickstarter projects, there are certain rewards you can get by pledging a certain amount. For Bugsnax: The Card Game, you can get everything from a digital version of the card game for $5, an early bird, discounted physical version of the game for $15, or a package that includes a physical and digital version of Bugsnax: The Card Game and a key for Bugsnax on PC, Xbox, PlayStation, or Switch for $35.For more, you can check out our Bugsnax review and a look at the instruction manual for Bugsnax: The Card Game.Have a tip for us? In 2015, a study by the University of Pennsylvania found that 9 percent of successfully funded projects failed to deliver rewards to their backers. Other caveats with crowdfunding may include missed deadlines, delays in shipping, and ambitious ideas that are not included in the final product. As always, use your best judgment before financially committing to help back a crowdfunded project.
