The first season of Castlevania: Nocturne didn’t end too well for Richter Belmont (Edward Bluemel), and the second season looks like more trouble is on the way. In the final trailer for Castlevania: Nocturne’s second season, Erzsebet Báthory (Franka Potente), now referred to as The Vampire Messiah, has unleashed a war on Paris that likely will spread around the globe.

At the end of the first season, Richter and his Vampire Killer whip proved to be no match for Erzsebet as she absorbed Sekhmet’s powers in order to become a god-like figure during their climatic fight. In the new trailer, the group fighting against Erzsebet and the vampire supremacy quickly learn it won’t be easy to kill her, and we see exactly why. In less than three minutes, we see vampires snap the necks of Parisian soldiers, Erzsebet presiding over legions of demons and vampires storming the city, and more beheadings.

There is some good news, though, as the trailer ends on Richter swirling the almighty Vampire Messiah around in the air with his Vampire Killer whip wrapped around her arm while he lands some devastating blows. However, that doesn’t mean they all figured out how to kill a demigod. Their best hope at beating her is to make sure she doesn’t reach her full power, and co-showrunner Kevin Kolde told Tudum, “Alucard (James Callis) is going to lead Richter and Annette (Thuso Mbedu) to Paris to try and find the last element that would allow Erzsebet to achieve the full power of Sekhmet and become even more powerful than she was in Season 1.”

With things looking really apocalyptic in the trailer, Castlevania: Nocturne’s second season is set to showcase one of the most visually stunning duels between good and evil we’ll likely see in 2025.
