Valve’s hero shooter Deadlock has already hit some serious numbers in terms of player numbers, despite not having been announced yet.

In this article, we will try to take stock of the situation regarding this project, whose name, in reality, has not yet been officially announced. However, we would like to remind our readers that, for the moment, all the information we have about this game, are nothing but rumors, therefore, we do not know what is true or not.

What is Deadlock?

Deadlock had a spike in players over the past weekend, even though the game hasn’t been officially announced and it’s unclear if and when Valve will decide to take this step. In any case, the fact that SteamDB has recorded such a high number of players present, certainly means that something is moving in the pot and that the developers of Half Life are working on the project.

But what do we know about it? Rumors and leaks about this new hero shooter emerged at the beginning of the year. It would seem that the game borrows several elements from multiple games, such as Overwatch and Dota 2. This could be both a good move for Valve since this type of game always has a great response, but it could also be considered a failure idea since there is a lot of competition.

As a result, developers will have to be very good at proposing something different that can make players decide to try this new IP. Deadlock seems to have a sci-fi setting, but there is no further information about it. We do not know how the game will actually be structured, the characters, the maps and everything else there is to know.

In short, despite the decent player count of last week suggesting that the development of the game is at a good point and the developers are testing its playability, we still do not have official information about it. Obviously, as soon as we have the opportunity to know more information, we will not delay in informing you.

For the moment, what we can tell you is not to rely too much on what can be found online, as it could turn out not to be true, or at least not entirely. The only thing to do to be able to start making your own evaluations and understand how far Valve will want to go with this project, is to wait for official information to be released, perhaps even with trailers that show the game in action.
