According to a report on Rock, Paper Shotgun, a new entry in the Red Faction series was in the works at Galaxy On Fire and Chorus developer Fishlabs before the studio was hit by layoffs. The report states that the Embracer-owned Fishlabs was beavering away on a sci-fi Metroidvania title and had created a “visual prototype” for a new Red Faction title before both were scrapped and layoffs hit the company last year. The Red Faction title was pitched after Volition, the original creator of the franchise, had been shuttered by Embracer Group last Summer. Sadly, the project failed to get the green light, and was cancelled in November 2023. As previously reported back in November, Fishlabs was hit by 50 layoffs after Lars Wingefors stated that it had no choice but to cut jobs due to a “lack of approval and financing” for an-in development project.[Source – Rock, Paper Shotgun]
