New MechWarrior 5 Clans DLC expands the campaign and customization options

Now that Armored Core 6 has been and gone, there are plenty of ways to fill that giant, mech-sized hole in your heart. Mecha Break’s demo is concluding, sure, but MechWarrior 5: Clans still offers a fairly robust way to customize and take giant robots out into the world. If you’ve never tried it, the game is currently 30% off, but there’s also a huge new DLC that’s just been announced, and it’s right around the corner.

In MechWarrior 5: Clans, you take control of a five-mech “Star” squad. You move from planet to planet, biome to biome, using both strategy and raw firepower to take out your enemies. Just like Armored Core 6, you can even heavily customize your mech to suit each mission, so there’s a lot of planning that goes into this robot game. If you love donning the towering war machines of Titanfall as much as I do, MechWarrior definitely has something for you.

Now, the newly announced Ghost Bear: Flash Storm DLC promises to up the ante even further, giving you myriad more ways to play. To start, there’s an all-new campaign for you to get lost in, with 12 missions of varying challenge and approach waiting for you. There’s also four new OmniMechs and four new BattleMechs, giving you plenty of choice in how you tackle each battle.

That’s not all, though, as the Clans MechLab (where you customize your robots) is getting expanded. There’s going to be even more customization options, like engine swapping, to help you push your creations even further than before. Basically, if you want more mech-stomping action, Ghost Bear: Flash Storm has that in spades.

MechWarrior 5: Clans – Ghost Bear: Flash Storm is set for launch in April. If you’re new, MechWarrior 5: Clans is 30% off on Steam until Thursday March 20, so expect to pay $34.99 / £29.39 until then. Just go here.
