Want to know about the new Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty Endings? We’ll explain to you everything you need to know about this alternative closure to V’s story.
The new Phantom Liberty expansion pack introduces a new ending to Cyberpunk 2077. Actually, the expansion has four endings as far as we can tell, depending on the choices you make. Two of these endings will finish V’s story while the other two wrap up the expansion before returning back to the main game.
Here is everything you need to know about Cyberpunk 2077’s new endings and what need to look out for during your mission on Dog Town. We’ll keep it light on spoilers.
Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty Endings
The new Phantom Liberty expansion has its own ending which effectively locks you out from the rest of the game. We tell you this now because many returning players will probably want to jump into the new content on fresh saves that haven’t done any of the companion quests yet. While this isn’t too bad, you might miss out on character interactions in Cyberpunk 2077’s infamous ending scroll.
In Phantom Liberty, V is given the choice to pick a side of the conflict involving the rescue of the President of the New United States of America (NUSA). These two paths feature very different story beats, characters, and missions so you might want to create an extra savefile to experience both.
Both of these paths also feature a completely new ending to the entire game which only unlocks after you’ve completed the Phantom Liberty storyline. This will give you an alternative to the already existing endings of Cyberpunk 2077.
Diverging Paths
During the Mission “Firestarter” V can choose to either side with the infamous Netrunner Songbird or help Solomon Reed (Idris Elba) to capture her. this decision will not only affect the weapons you might acquire in the final act of the expansion.
The choice is clearly signposted where you can either pick “I’m with you” to help the Songbird or “One more second…” to join up with Solomon Reed.
From here on the expansion will split into two paths that align with your previous choices. Both of them feature two different endings depending on your choice as well as an offer you might take to solve V’s plight.
Alternative Endings
No matter what path you pick, your objective is still the same. Whether you side with Solomon Reed or the Songbird, your objective is to keep the Songbird alive.
If you choose to help the Songbird in “Firestarter”, you must later surrender her to Solomon Reed in the mission “The Killing Moon”. Here he’ll ask you to hand over the Songbird and don’t cause any problems. You will be prompted to draw your weapons on him or try to convince him otherwise. If you kill Solomon you’ll be locked out of the alternative ending.
But if you side with Solomon in the “Firestarter” mission, you’ll have to make a difficult choice in the mission “Somewhat Damaged”. You can either choose to kill the Songbird or spare her. The prompt to spare her will only pop up after waiting a little so be careful.
After either of those conclusions, Solomon Reed will promise to contact you with a cure for V. Now you’ll go back to the main game and can happily continue the other quests. A few days later, Solomon will contact you and give you a location where you can initiate the new ending.
This ending will let you ignore the other endings of Cyberpunk 2077. But make sure to complete all the companion quests before taking up Solomon’s offer. That way you can still get the epilogue for all characters.
If you don’t save the Songbird, you’ll be locked out of Phantom Liberty’s unique ending but you’ll still get an ending to the expansion and will still be able to finish the base game.
